Overview

If you want the chance to immerse yourself in some of the best nature South Australia has to offer & do it in a little bit of luxury, this is the trip for you. You can expect beautiful coastal cliff views, white sand and turquoise water beaches, seals playing in the water, wallabys out your front door & koalas calling in the trees. Over your 5 days with us we will take you for walks in some of the most beautiful locations on Kangaroo Island as well as giving you plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful accommodation. Imagine, after a day of walking you’re sitting on the deck overlooking a beautiful beach or trees dotted with koalas, surrounded by like minded people, while enjoying a delicious cheese platter filled with local goodies. The Walks

We have picked these walks as we believe they are achievable for anyone who does some walking and wants to spend time in nature. We are confident we can get anyone who wants to do it through these walks but if you are not sure, come join us on some of our day trips for a little bit of training.

The Kayaking

On the first day we will head into Vivonne Bay to explore the Harriett River by Kayak. We will spend about 2 hours kayaking. We will put everyone in double kayaks but if you are a confident kayaker and would prefer a single you can opt to pay $15 to upgrade on the booking form.

Pick up & Drop off

Pick up: 7.15am from the Hilton Adelaide

Drop off: Approx 5.00pm in Adelaide City or 5.30pm at the airport

Accommodation

The rooming varies between both of our accommodation options as you can see below. If possible we ask that solo travellers are open to sharing a room with other guests, this is a great way to get to know others. If you would prefer your own room you are welcome to opt for a single supplement in your booking form.

Island Beach Lodge

The beautiful quiet seaside town of Island Beach has nothing other a few houses, beautiful beach and wildlife, which is the charm of it. The calm beach is perfect for swimming so make sure you come prepared for a refreshing swim.

G'day Parks Kangaroo Island

The Western KI Caravan Park is a story of resilience having been destroyed in the bushfires but have built themselves up again. It is a place full of wildlife and nature. We will stay in cabins and eat in a communal area.

Day 1: Adelaide to Western KI Caravan Park via Vivonne Bay

Kayak: Approx 2 hours

Meet your guides & new friends for the week in the city and we’ll jump in the bus and head towards Cape Jervis, with a coffee stop on the way if we have time. We’ll be on the ferry heading over to Kangaroo Island at 10am hopefully spotting some dolphins on the ride across. We’ve got a bit of driving to do today but don’t worry we’ll break it up with a walk up 500 steps to the top of Prospect Hill, this is a great view over the island. From here we’ll head across the Island towards the lovely little seaside village of Vivonne Bay. Talia & Dani both love this place as they both lived there for a while. We’ll stop at the Vivonne Bay General Store to pick up their Famous Whiting Burgers for lunch before heading to Kangaroo Island Outdoor Action to pick up our kayaks. We’ll spend a lovely 2 hours on the Harriett River spotting koalas and birdlife while we paddle before we head on to our accommodation at the Western KI Caravan Park. You can settle in with a cheese platter while you spot wildlife from your deck as your guides prepare your first home made dinner to enjoy as a group.

Day 2: Remarkable Rocks to Sanderson Bay & Admirals Arch for sunset

Walk: Approx 4-5 hours

We’ll have a bit of an early start this morning but don’t worry, it’s worth it. Enjoy Flinders Chase National Park before the crowds arrive. We’ll spend some time checking out the incredible geological wonder that is Remarkable Rocks before heading off on our walk. Walking up on the cliffs we’ll get some spectacular views and don’t forget to keep an eye out for all the seals frolicking down below. We’ll stop for some morning tea along the walk and we’ll probably be done and back to the caravan park for a nice cooked lunch. You’ll have the afternoon to relax and explore a few short walks at the caravan park before an early dinner so that we can head to Admirals Arch and watch the seals as the sun sets.

Day 3: Kelly Hill Caves to Hanson Bay

Walk: Approx 4-5 hours

Today we walk through some beautiful land regenerating from the 2019 bushfires.

Marvel at the grass trees which are hundreds of years old and spot a wide variety of

waterbirds on the lagoon. When we reach Hanson Bay there will be time for a swim

before we head on and settle into our beautiful new accommodation at Island Beach Lodge.

Day 4: Explore Kangaroo Island

This morning we’ll start slow with a yoga session in the house before we have breaky and head out for the day. Today we have a variety of options and your guides will decide on the tour depending on the weather and how everyone is feeling.

Here are some of the possible options:

Explore the beautiful white sandy beaches of D’Estrees Bay
Walk the Cape Gantheaume Coastal Trail to the seal slide (5-6 hours)
Visit Clifford’s Honey Farm & Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery
Visit the Gin Distillery
Walk the Cannery trail in American River (1-2 hours)

Day 5: Kangaroo Island to Adelaide via Blowhole Beach Circuit walk

Walk: 3-4 hours

Time to say goodbye to Kangaroo Island and the beautiful Island Beach Lodge and we’ll do this in the best possible way. By waving to the Island from a walk on the mainland. We’ll take a morning ferry and head into the beautiful Deep Creek National Park. Walking down to Blowhole Beach we’ll have some spectacular views back over Kangaroo Island to finish the trip. After a final stop in Myponga on the way back we’ll have you back in Adelaide by around 5.00pm.
